Fluorometric & Colorimetric Lactate Assay Kits

Lactate plays an important roles in many biological processes. It is a key player in cancer metabolism and abnormally high levels of lactate have been related to various disease states such as diabetes and lactic acidosis. L(+)-Lactate is the major lactate stereoisomer formed in human intermediary metabolism and is present in blood. D(-)-Lactate is also present but only at about 1-5% of the concentration of L(+)-Lactate.

In the colorimetric L-Lactate Assay Kit I, lactate is oxidized by lactate dehydrogenase to generate a product which interacts with a probe to produce a color (Abs.max = 450 nm). The kit detects L(+)-Lactate in biological samples such as serum or plasma, cell culture and fermentation media at a level of 0.02 mM – 10 mM. There is no need for pretreatment or purification of samples.

In the fluorometric/colorimetric L-Lactate Assay Kit II, lactate specifically reacts with an enzyme mix to generate a product, which interacts with a lactate probe to produce a signal detectable as a color (570 nm) or as fluorescence (Ex/Em = 535/587 nm). The kit provides a convenient means for detecting L(+)-Lactate in various biological samples, e.g. in circulating blood, cells, culture media, fermentation media, etc. at concentrations between 0.001 -10 mM. There is no need of pre-treatment or purification of samples.

The kit detects D-Lactate in samples such as serum, plasma, cell culture and fermentation media. The useful concentration range in samples is 0.01 mM – 10 mM D-Lactate.

The fluorometric D-Lactate Assay Kit II offers simplicity, high sensitivity, and can be adapted to high-throughput research. The assay enzymatically oxidizes D-Lactate generating a fluorescent signal (Ex/Em = 535/587 nm), which is directly proportional to the amount of D-Lactate present in the sample. Highly sensitive, this assay can detect D-Lactate in samples containing as low as 0.1 µM.
