Gene Cloning, Expression & Silencing

Gene cloning is the process of making multiple copies of a defined DNA sequence. Since its establishment it has become a core technique in molecular biology, and it enables a wide array of biological experiments and practical applications. Amplifying DNA has also allowed the study of gene expression, including the examination of genetic information transcribed and translated into RNA and proteins. In contrast, gene silencing has also grown into an important technique for analyzing gene functions.

PromoKine provides a wide range of tools for gene cloning, expression & silencing such as versatile plasmid vectors for cloning and expression of target or reporter genes (e.g. GFP, luciferase, beta-Galactosidase) as well as siRNA. In addition, ready-to-use kits for fast and convenient gene cloning and expression as well gene silencing are available.
The StarGate Cloning Systems have been designed for fast, convenient and highly efficient cloning and expression of genes in different host systems and genetic surroundings (i.e. with different genetic elements). Using the StarGate Combinatorial Cloning System, expression and isolation of target proteins can be optimized by choosing the optimal combination of host system, promoter and purification tag and transfering the gene of interest into the desired plasmid vector with minimal effort. The StarGate Mutagenesis System and StarGate Fusion Cloning System are based on the StarGate Combinatorial Cloning System and allow easy site-specific mutation of target genes, polycistronic gene expression in mammalian cells,  generation of fusion proteins, and construction of artificial operons for multiple gene expression in bacterial cells.
